The new work I have this year is all painted on square paper. I experimented with a mixed media method which allows me to draw and paint instead of choosing one or the other. Color and texture are the cornerstones of abstract painting, but here I circled around a few themes. The moth is a mysterious fuzzy warrior that is both fragile and fierce. It comes in countless shapes and colors. I used it as an inspiration to balance bravery and delicacy of life. May they inspire us all to be fearless.
My next series in the square is full of color these are inspired by how much I treasure my friendships. I used acrylic gouache which has been an incredible inspiration for it’s flexibility with drawing and richness of mat color. The challenge is the paint is it dries a completely different color. I am enjoying learning the pigments as I go.
